As well as trying FTM2 on my mac I have also tried Mac Family Tree. Which does seem a reasonable program to use.
I also started with Family Historian on windows and going by my personal experience, you will never find a program as good as that. I really am disappointed that they do not seem likely to ever bring out a mac version.
I would suggest getting a copy of something like Parallels, run windows in that and then use FH. It's not the cheapest of options because you've got to buy Parallels (there is other software that does the same job but I can't think of their names at the moment), then you need a copy of windows as well. This means buying three pieces of software instead of one.
One day they will sort out the problems with FTM2, and then I will go back to using it because I do like the idea of the sync function, but I bet by then it will be FTM3 and we will have to pay for the upgrade
