Thanks for the suggestions.

Since I posted that I've tried Legacy & was not happy with that. I ended up with Roots Magic & so far am quite pleased. I simply like the way the program works.

I've not used it to print out any sort of report yet, but the odds are that I'd never use it for that anyway. I believe in writing such things myself, from scratch. But, Roots Magic has so far allowed me enough flexibility that I can do notes according to NGS or forms that Eliz. Shown Mills suggests, or I can deviate as I need to.

What I like is that I only need to do that form once. Thereafter, for my own compiled reports I can either copy & paste or I can type them up myself into Word or WordPerfect, but w/o having to recheck the format.

For some reason I never did like Family Tree Maker. I don't know if it was something I was not liking on a personal basis, something that I was not understanding, or what. It just was not a good fit for what I do. As I said, so far Roots Magic has been good. We shall see as my addtions become more complex. I have 25 years of research to sift thru & get in order.
