I went thru the same process u did and found that solutuon. Also Had paid for the updated patched program etc. so I was all up to date. The for some reason tree.exe would not open no matter what I did even with multiple re-installs even an install on a completely different computer. So some kind of Windows update etc. must have screwed it up. Each year generations went quirky so my suggestion is to backup your uds files to gedcom as often as you can or switch to a more common file format ASAP. In my humble opinion.I prefer Generations over evey other program out there however the issues are too scary and since my program won't even work it's something you don't want to experience.

take care
