Have you thought about buying Family Tree Maker 2012 (or waiting for 2013)? Pretty inexpensive way to download all attached tree content/media including census images. Also if you have FTM 2011 there's a way to get a .ged with all media attached.
Now about AID.
Earlier this year Ancestry changed their Terms and Conditions. The new Limited Use License, in my view, would expressly prohibit tools like AID.
“Bots, crawlers, spiders, data miners, scraping and any other automatic access tool are expressly prohibited.”
This may well be what happened to AID.
The new LUL specifically details how, and where to, “content” may be “downloaded”. While “content” isn’t specifically defined one would believe content to extend to not only images but also index data. Copying and pasting text data is scraping, falls outside of the LUL specified software allowed to “download” content and would therefore technically be against the LUL.
Further Ancestry also appears to have made it against the LUL to publish “content”, say on you personal website. Content can only be “downloaded” onto mobile or desktop devices.
“The Content may be downloaded onto mobile devices or desktop through the use of authorized Ancestry software. When downloaded, the Content remains subject to the limited use license contained in this Agreement.”
