I would recommend buying the book RootsMagic, 3rd. edition available on the RM website.
I converted from FTM 16 to RM and I know you are interested in converting from FTM2008; however, one problem I had going from FTM 16 to RM is that my "preferred facts" in FTM 16 did not transfer to RM as "primary facts." It is now a pain to go in and change them individually. Other than that and some differences in reports, I am very happy with RM.
