I'm arbitrating Delaware Land Records. This issue I struggle with is the correct choice when a previous name - can't determine if it is a maiden name or previous marriage - and a subsequent married name are included in the deed. It is clear that the individual is the same person. An example is: First name that is recorded is Jane Wall Reedy. Further down she is as referred to as "formerly Jane E Wall now intermarried with Walter C Reedy." These are no signatures associated with these names.
Keying standards say use maiden name. In the above example I have no way of knowing if Wall is her maiden name.
Is the correct choice Jane Wall Reedy, Jane E Wall, or as my choice would be, Jane E Wall Reedy. Thanks for your help. smc
