We recently hit a huge milestone for the World Memory Project - the contribution of 2 million records!!
Currently I am in the Museum preparing for the 20th Anniversary event occurring today and tomorrow. Having the opportunity to walk through the exhibits and see the pictures and the emotions that come along with that brings the importance of the contributions being made by our community to a higher level. It is one thing to research your own family history but then to turn around and give of your time to contribute by indexing records that will help others find their families is amazing and inspiring.
Time is of the essence to bring the records from the victims and survivors of the Holocaust to those who are still alive and looking to find word of what happened to their family and friends. These records are not always the easiest to read and interpret but the difference that your contributions will make is untold. If you are curious about the World Memory Project and what difference your contributions could make please watch one of our videos, http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJye3JJV24onzDmjoYi1_c...
I am passionate about the World Archives Project and the World Memory Project for many reasons (love of family and history, desire to help others, wanting to make a difference, ...) and would love to hear from you why you participate.
Thank you for all that you contribute, for you skills, passion and desire to give to such a wonderful project!
