Posting here because I don't know whom I should alert to this: In searching for names in the USHMM Vital Records of Jews in the Lodz Ghetto database, which was indexed through the World Archives Project and is live on Ancestry, I found that there are a whole lot of names in the death records that are erroneously indexed as having died in 1944, when this should be 1942 (or perhaps 1943).How do I know? Firstly, because they are listed as having died between August and December 1944, and this is simply impossible as the Lodz Ghetto had been completely liquidated by then. Secondly, many of the names have a duplicate registration in another file, and all the ones I saw said the person died in 1942. I don't know how many names were wrongly indexed as having died in 1944, but I would guess that they all come from one file, which seems to be in Reel 190. I do think it's important to correct this. If someone could let the right people know, you'd be doing a service for accuracy.
