We are not stating to infer what the initials stand for. There are times where a more complete name appears on the record (Canada Militia records are a great example) and keying the initials versus their expanded names as Aliases. If you see on the record that the individual is referred to as S T Jones and then later as Samuel Thomas we want you to enter their name as Samuel Thomas Jones. If the record had the name listed as S T Jones and later as Lewis Jones you would want to enter the first listed name as the primary name and the second listed name as the alias. I hope that clears up any confusion.
