So I have been volunteering for Ancestry.com's World Archives Project and familysearch.org indexing records for quite some time now. This morning I was indexing US Military registries for the Army in 1909 and came across a very familiar name. General George S Patton, Jr. as a second lieutenant in the 8th Calvary. This would have been the year he graduated from West Point and the first year an a member of the Army. What an awesome piece of history to have unearthed. Just proves how rewarding it is to do volunteer genealogy work. It's not every day that you run across a record like this. WOW!!
