I want to key a number (1)into the occupation box but as number 1 is Lab on the drop down box so thats is what defaults into the box, how do I force the number 1 or should I write it as one? The auto correct is off.

Aha found it .... in case anyone else encounters the problem:
If you click on f12 and enter the required number in the 'entered text' box it adds it to the list....panic over
